Back

13/06/2012

LuLu Hypermarket, the regional retail major, launched ‘Kalayaan’, a special eleven-day Philippine festival, to mark the 114th anniversary of the Philippines Declaration of Independence, on Wednesday, 13th June at the outlet in the Al Rai area.

His Excellency Shulan O. Primavera, Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines, inaugurated the festival in the presence of Mohammed Haris, Regional Director of LuLu Hypermarket, and a large gathering of patrons, well-wishers and senior company officials.

Following the inauguration, the ambassador was feted to a display of traditional arts and ethnic dances by a troupe of Filipino artists, including dancers decked in traditional attire, who highlighted the rich and colorful heritage of the Philippines.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the management of LuLu for their initiative in holding a festival that emphasized the high-quality and rich diversity of Philippine products. The ambassador added that by organizing the festival, LuLu Hypermarket was helping to promote and popularize the wide selection and immense variety of Philippine products in the local market.

The festival, which showcases some of the finest goods and food items from the Philippines, including groceries and frozen foods, also offers freshly prepared traditional Philippine cuisines at the hot food counters. The Kalayaan festival provides shoppers with an opportunity to acquaint themselves with Philippine products and to experience the multiple ethnicity and cultural diversity of more than 7,000 islands that together make up the Philippines archipelago.

The ongoing Philippines festival is part of LuLu Hypermarket’s initiative to continuously bring the best of the world to their customers, by providing the right products in the right place at the right time. Catering to nearly half a million customers every day, and with 103 outlets spread across the region, the LuLu Group has grown to become the shopping center of choice among discerning customers looking for quality retailing.
